Boris Fesenko is the founder and CEO of BJF Trading Group Inc. (Ontario, Canada), a software company that has been developing execution technology for forex and cryptocurrency trading since 2000. He is a recognized expert in high-frequency trading (HFT) systems, latency arbitrage, FIX API integrations, and broker execution analysis, with more than 30 years of combined experience in electromechanical engineering, telecommunications, and algorithmic trading software. His products — including the SharpTrader arbitrage terminal and NewsAutoTraderPro — are used by professional traders, prop firms, and institutional clients in 50+ countries.
Born in 1971 in Ukraine, Boris began his technical education at the Luhansk Industrial-Economic College, graduating in 1990 with a specialization in Mining Electromechanics. He immediately entered the workforce at the 20th Congress of the CPSU Coal Mine in Luhansk, working as an apprentice underground electrician, working full working days underground in the mine’s electrical systems. This early experience with high-reliability, zero-tolerance-for-failure hardware shaped his later approach to trading execution systems, where milliseconds and uptime matter.
In 1995, Boris graduated from East Ukrainian State University (Luhansk) with a degree in Electromechanics and entered postgraduate studies the same year. His dissertation research focused on measuring changes in the hardness of automotive valves using magnetic methods — combining applied mathematics, magnetism, and materials science.
He worked concurrently as a Design Engineer in the university’s Department of Electromechanics research sector and as a Category 1 Telecommunications Engineer at the Lugansk Telecom production laboratory. In 2001, he completed a second degree in Flexible Computerized Systems and Robotics at East Ukrainian State University, broadening his foundation in systems engineering and automation.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, Boris completed advanced professional development programs that are unusually relevant to modern HFT:
These certifications reflected his hands-on role in building and maintaining the telecommunications backbone of the era — working directly with the hardware and protocols that would later inform his understanding of low-latency data pipelines, packet timing, and network jitter that define modern arbitrage execution.
In 2006, Boris relocated to Ontario, Canada, with his family. Drawing on his background in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, systems automation, and telecommunications, he expanded BJF Trading Group — originally founded in 2000 — into a full-scale software company dedicated to execution technology for algorithmic and high-frequency trading in forex and cryptocurrency markets.
Over the following two decades, BJF Trading Group built a product suite trusted by traders in 50+ countries, including:
The SharpTrader platform connects to 60+ FIX API brokers and 40+ cryptocurrency exchanges.
Over 20 years of building and shipping arbitrage software, Boris has developed deep expertise across:
Boris is the author of the book Trader’s Treasure, Broker’s Nightmare: Unveiling Controversial Forex Strategies, which documents advanced and unconventional arbitrage techniques and the broker counter-measures built around them.
He has published research on:
Boris regularly shares technical analysis through the BJF Trading Group blog, the company’s webinar series, and guest appearances on trading podcasts and industry publications.

BJF Trading Group Inc. is a Canadian software company founded by Boris Fesenko in 2000. It develops algorithmic and high-frequency trading software for professional forex and cryptocurrency traders. Its flagship product, SharpTrader, supports multiple arbitrage strategies and connects to 60+ FIX API brokers and 40+ cryptocurrency exchanges.
Boris holds a master ‘s-level degree in Electromechanics from East Ukrainian State University (1995), where he also completed postgraduate research on magnetic methods for measuring the hardness of automotive valves. He later earned a second degree in Flexible Computerized Systems and Robotics (2001) from the same university, specializing in systems engineering and automation.
His path to HFT was unconventional. Starting with hands-on electromechanical engineering in underground mining, then telecommunications engineering at Lugansk Telecom — where he worked with fiber optics and control systems from AT&T, Siemens, Ericsson, and Nortel — Boris developed an intuition for low-latency, high-reliability data systems. After relocating to Canada in 2006, he applied his engineering background to execution technology for algorithmic trading, which naturally evolved into the HFT and arbitrage products that BJF Trading Group is known for today.
Boris is the author of Trader’s Treasure, Broker’s Nightmare: Unveiling Controversial Forex Strategies — a book documenting advanced arbitrage techniques, broker counter-measures, and the cat-and-mouse game between sophisticated traders and modern broker risk engines.
Under BJF Trading Group, Boris leads the development of SharpTrader Pro, SharpTrader Lite, NewsAutoTraderPro, VIP Crypto Arbitrage, and the free Crypto Arbitrage Scanner. The SharpTrader family is the company’s flagship multi-strategy arbitrage platform for professional traders.
